Orgy

What Is an Orgy?

An orgy is a gathering where multiple individuals engage in consensual and unrestrained sexual activities.

Typically involving at least five participants, orgies encompass various sexual acts, including oral sex, intercourse, anal play, bondage, and role-play.

The Historical Context of Orgies

The term “orgy” originates from the Greek word orgion, signifying “a licentious revelry.” Historically, orgies were associated with ecstatic forms of worship, particularly in the secret rites of Dionysus and Bacchus, ancient Greek and Roman deities of wine, fertility, and religious ecstasy.

These rituals involved excessive drinking, merrymaking, and sexual activities during bacchanal festivals. To suppress these orgiastic festivals, the Roman senate passed the Senatus consultum de Bacchanalibus in 186 B.C.
